Conor McGregor’s mysterious training protocol
WATCH: Conor McGregor’s mysterious movement-training protocol

Movement is a very important part of fighting that is often under appreciated by novices of the sport. Most people think of fighting as simply how hard you can punch or kick someone but how you move in there and your sense of range and distance are just as important if not even more so.

In this video from Conor McGregor’s official YouTube channel ‘The Mac Life Productions’ we get a glimpse behind the scenes of Conor McGregor ‘movement training’ with his free spirited movement coach, Ido Portal.
Though Conor McGregor’s movement stuff was hilariously ridiculed by Nate Diaz prior to their first fight as ‘touch butt in the park’ perhaps there is something to it. McGregor’s movement in the cage is like a snake almost, just waiting to strike and unleash that powerful left hand of his.
His movement is very unique as well as if you were to just see a silhouette or shadow of his movement you would know it was him instantaneously.
Several other fighters have followed McGregor’s lead with the movement training too including former interim welterweight champion Carlos Condit who worked with MovNat coach Erwan Le Corre.

There definitely seems to be some promise in this realm of movement training, especially given the success that Conor has had with it. However, it shouldn’t be a replacement for real fight training as well as legitimate strength and conditioning work.
McGregor last competed at UFC 205 in November at the historic Madison Square Garden where he defeated lightweight champ Eddie Alvarez via KO and became the first fighter to ever simultaneously hold 2 titles in 2 different weight classes.
