UFC lightweight Joe Lauzon has extraordinary personal integrity. It has carried him through a record number of performance-bonus-winning fights.

Lauzon fought Jim Miller Decision at UFC 155 on December 29, 2012, and lost a unanimous decision, winning Fight of the Night. The pair had a rematch on August 27, 2016 at UFC on Fox 21 and again won Fight of the Night. That time Lauzon lost a split decision which many observers thought split the wrong way. Lauzon soldiered on, only complaining after his next fight vs. Marcin Held at UFC Fight Night 103 on Sunday. And the complaint was because Lauzon was awarded a decision he thought he didn’t deserve.

I thought he won the fight, said Lauzon.

I thought it sucked before when I thought I won the fight and I lost. This is worse. This sucks. It’s great I got the win money, but I 100-percent thought he won the fight.”

“Honestly, I feel guilty. I feel bad about it. Because I was in his shoes last time.”

The decision was so bad it caught the attention of Kentucky Governor Matt Bevin, who was duly impressed with Lauzon’s reaction.

Lauzon said he would be advocating for Held’s continuing employment in the UFC.

“He’s coming over from Bellator. They match him with Diego, he has a tough outing there – altitude and everything like that. I think he get’s screwed on a decision. That’s super crappy.

“And then I think he get’s screwed on a decision. That’s super crappy. That’s a really bad start 0-2. And he’s really good. I’ll be harassing [UFC lightweight matchmaker] Sean Shelby, ‘You gotta keep that guy around, he’s really really really good.”
