The sport of Mixed Martial Arts has been around a lot longer than most people believe, however; it was introduced to the world on a cold evening in Denver, Colorado on November 12, 1993, and called the Ultimate Fighting Championship. The premise was beautiful in its simplicity: to simply answer the question of which martial art is most effective.

Fast forward over 20 years and we now have a sport that jockeys for top position in popularity in many countries. Although the sport has evolved, the original question that was set out to be answered is still one that intrigues people to this day.

As with everything in this life, evolution is a continual process and one can pick and choose which aspects of evolution to believe and which to deny, etc., but one thing cannot be denied: athletes are evolving at an unbelievable rate and the greatest benefactors are us…the fans.

For example, Jon Jones.

Jon Jones is one of those unique athletes much like Edson Barboza Jr.: purpose built. Like a game bred dog, Jones comes from a bloodline that has given him extraordinary abilities and talents right out of the gate and insures his athletic success whatever direction he may choose to go. I would venture to say, and I have said this about Barboza, he is a unique athlete, if you were to put a pair of ice skates on Jones he potentially be the world’s greatest figure skater…he is that good of an athlete.

The genius and ability of Jones makes watching him a unique experience, thus you reading this article and watching the video below of him sparring. So sit back and enjoy as we watch one of the greatest athletes of our time train with everyone from elite level professionals to kids.
