The sport of Mixed Martial Arts has been around a lot longer than most people believe, however; it was introduced to the world on a cold evening in Denver, Colorado on November 12, 1993, and called the Ultimate Fighting Championship. The premise was beautiful in its simplicity: to simply answer the question of which martial art is most effective.

Fast forward over 20 years and we now have a sport that jockeys for top position in popularity in many countries. Although the sport has evolved, the original question that was set out to be answered is still one that intrigues people to this day.

Another interesting question arises when it comes to cross-training with high-level athletes, particularly, what would happen when a high-level boxer takes on a high level mixed martial arts fighter? In this case, we are talking about amateur boxing champion Rakeem Nealy and The Ultimate Fighter 24 veteran Jamie Alvarez.

One interesting tidbit concerning the clip below is the fact that Nealy is only 15 years old! Make no mistake, he is a kid in a man’s body but none the less he is a kid and he is sparring with a seasoned veteran in Alvarez.

Alvarez is officially 6-1 as a professional fighter as his bout on TUF is technically considered an exhibition and is not reflected on his record. To compete on the professional level is something that only 5% of high school athletes in America will ever have the opportunity to do so with that being said, although Alvarez is currently working his way back to the UFC, he is no slouch.

So check out the video below to see this 15-year-old boxing phenom go to war in a sparring session with professional fighter Jamie Alvarez.
