1984’s The Karate Kid, directed by John G. Avildsen of “Rocky” fame, introduced a generation to the benefit of martial arts training. However, it was preceded by a decade by Turkey’s Kareteci Kiz (“Karate Girl”), directed by Orhan Aksoy.

Zeynep, played by popular Turkish actress Filiz Akın, has lost her voice in an accident, and lives with her elderly father. Five prison escapees break into their home, take their money, and kill her father. The shock causes Zeynep to regain her voice.

When the fugitives are arrested, Zaynep wants to personally take revenge, so she tells the police it was not them, and they are released. Then Zaynep begins to plot her revenge.

The police appoint Murat, played by Ediz Hun, to teach her karate, and how to use a handgun.

The pair fall in love and get married. Then the four prison escapees kill Murat, too. Now Zaynep wants super double revenge.

She becomes a policewoman, and tracks down the four prison escapees, using her karate and gun to exact final revenge, one by one …
