Hold on a second, am I to believe that a six foot five, three hundred and fifty pound former American football player was taken down by a weasel of a TV producer? Alright, maybe the producer had a little meat on his bones but still, what the hell is going on here?
Bob Sapp is an absolute freak of nature, (in a good way, no offense, Bob.) The guy is just literally larger than life and has become quite famous because of it. With that being said, the man has a pretty darn weird resume. First of all, look at his records in kickboxing and MMA, the guy is well below a .500 average in both of them, yet has still been on the main card for a number of different organizations. He has even “tapped to punches” four times in his MMA career. Now there’s nothing wrong with tapping to punches. Sometimes you don’t go completely out with the first few knocks in the head but the referee won’t stop the fight because your eyes are still open and the crowd is cheering. I agree that does happen on occasion but since the beginning of 2011 Bob Sapp is 2-19 in competitive combat sports! On paper, it doesn’t appear that Bob Sapp has the “win at all costs” fighter mentality anymore. Still, he continues to get paid to step in the ring and I can’t blame him for continuing to collect a paycheck.
So when a Spanish language TV channel asked Mr. Sapp to be a guest on their program and the appearance ended with a sloppy brawl, it’s hard to tell if it was legitimate or just another check cashing opportunity. The guy is still very entertaining, so you can’t fault him if it was staged, I just like the 2005 Bob Sapp better, back when he was still knocking people out and making me laugh along side Adam Sandler in The Longest Yard.
