As the years go by and the generations pass, many aspects and nuances of life change; amongst these things are technological advancements, political agendas and movements as well as social acceptability amongst the youth however; some things in life will never change. Among these timeless classics of unchanging motivations lies the heart and soul of nearly every high school fist fight… girls.

Below we see two gentlemen engaging in a bout of fisticuffs and, lo and behold, the backstory is that the smaller participant (black shorts) is now the significant other of the larger participant’s ex-girlfriend. In an act of pure Casanova-esque chivalry the larger man is intent on defending his ex’s honor and winning her back. Unfortunately for him, his adversary has a little bit of martial arts training.
The video below is an exemplary display of the true spirit of martial arts; without ever throwing a strike, the smaller man deescalates and neutralizes the situation without taking any damage to himself.
As a broad and general statement, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu in and of itself does not put a very large emphasis on takedowns or takedown defense as it is a ground-based art however; the smaller man in the video has complimented his jiu jitsu with wrestling to give him an ideal skillset to avoid being punched in the mouth by a much larger man and also adequately putting an end to the situation at hand.
Given the outcome of the fight it is unclear as to how the situation turned out with the girl but I am assuming the Casanova’s efforts did not earn him the sought after prize…
