This article from The MMA UnderGround at MixedMartialArts.com is a small part of a large effort to understand what works in martial arts. The focus is not on what happens in the arena, but rather what happens on the streets, or in this case, in the gym. Please check out more stories on:
Martial Arts on The Street
How To
Female vs. Male

Martial arts supplement company Onnit Labs put together a challenge for a cash prize. The challenge was for them to pull a supposed civilian off the street to see if he could last a round with The Karate Hottie, Michelle Waterson.

It didn’t look like it was just a random guy fresh off the street, but it’s hard to tell, because he wasn’t able to throw any strikes of his own. Basically, he was a punching bag for Waterson for three minutes.

The rules were that he couldn’t strike, hold, or wrestle back. He was allowed to move out of the way, but not run. He was required to ‘engage’ the whole time.

The guy was able to continue moving forward and seemed to be able to deflect and defend most of the Karate Hottie’s attacks. He did get caught a couple of times, but it’s possible that Michelle’s 105-pound frame just couldn’t generate enough power to take the much bigger guy out; and it’s possible that he’s had some training as well.

Did he end up lasting the whole three minutes and get the money? Watch the video to find out!
