MMA superstar Conor McGregor’s elite-level skills are what won him his UFC belts but it is his gift of gab that turned him into the huge star that he is today. While many MMA fighters like Max Holloway had to get 9 wins in a row over the top competition to earn their title shot, McGregor earned his in just 5 fights thanks to his ability to self-promote.

His trash talking ability even earned him a huge ‘money fight’ against one of the greatest boxers ever, Floyd Mayweather Jr., something that many felt was just a pipe dream and that fight, while he still lost, earned McGregor a fortune of wealth.

Love him or hate him, when the talking stops and it’s time to fight, a Conor McGregor fight never fails to disappoint.

Here are some of the best quotes from ‘The Notorious.’

5) We’re not just here to take part, we’re here to take over.

McGregor clearly had large aspirations early in his UFC career, as exemplified by this quote. While many young fighters are probably just excited to be part of the UFC roster, Conor had other plans in mind. Judging by the way his career has gone so far, it’s safe to say this is another one of Conor’s predictions that came true.

4) I am cocky in prediction. I am confident in preparation, but I am always humble in victory or defeat.

This quote is from the post-fight press conference at UFC 178, following his win over Dustin Poirier – which was in hindsight a very impressive win over a very tough opponent. While he talks a big game prior to the fight, afterward, he has always been gracious to his opponent and quite respectful.

3) It’s a tough pill to swallow, but we can either run from adversity or we can face our adversity head on and conquer it. And that’s what I plan to do.

To the people who were turned off by the brash Irishman’s antics, they saw a different side of him following his surprising loss to Nate Diaz at UFC 196 which clearly humbled Conor. Yet, in true championship form, he still took the time to face the press and answer questions following the fight.

2) I just want to say from the bottom of my heart … I’d just like to take this time to apologize……..to absolutely nobody!

Following his historic win over Eddie Alvarez at UFC 205, Conor McGregor became the first ever 2-weight world champion ever in the UFC, accomplishing another prediction he set for himself. Instead of going the humble route, McGregor quipped this great one-liner which captured the moment perfectly.

1) Who the f*** is that guy?

When featherweight slugger Jeremy Stephens tried to thrust himself into the limelight using McGregor’s fame as a springboard, Conor was having none of it and shut him down promptly in embarrassing fashion in front of the whole world. This one shows how quick McGregor is on his feet and knows the perfect thing to say to capture a moment perfectly.
