Martial arts are usually a huge part of the vast majority of fighting video games out there. From classics like Street Fighter and Mortal Kombat to more recent additions like King of Fighters or Tekken, just about every character comes from a martial arts background.

However, there tend to be some styles and techniques in the game which really have no basis in reality, and these are usually the coolest moves in the game.

Alas, we always want most what we can’t have but imagine just how awesome it would be to be able to pull off some of these badass moves in real life.

4) Hadouken (Street Fighter)

This move from Capcom’s Street Fighter was used primarily by the character of Ryu and was one of the most annoying moves to deal with in the game as an opponent.

People could just spam this technique over and over and there wasn’t much you do about it.

In real life though, launching a massive ball of chi energy at your opponent is impossible though of course, despite what many ‘woo woo’ martial arts masters out there will have you believe.

3) Scorpion’s Spear ‘get over here’ (Mortal Kombat)

This was one of the coolest moves by one of the coolest characters in the game, Scorpion.

Much like the Hadouken from Street Fighter, Scorpions spear could cover a lot of distance. And not only did it do damage to your opponent too, but it also brought him back into your range which in many of the older fighting games was half the battle.

This technique/weapon is actually similar to a harpoon in real life and is inspired by a real-life ninja weapon called the Kunai.

2) Ansatsuken – martial art (Street Fighter)

This is a fictional martial art from the Street Fighter series and some other games too that literally translates to ‘assassination fist’ or ‘assassination arts.’

This fighting style is all about killing an opponent which could very well come in handy during a real-life extreme self-defense situation.

In real life though, the martial arts and masters out there like this one that claims to be ‘too deadly’ for the UFC and such are all BS, though, unfortunately.

1) Fatalities (Mortal Kombat)

These supercool moves were next to impossible to pull off and were usually around 20 button sequences that before the internet came about YOU HAD TO MEMORIZE.

Once you finally input the move correctly at the right time you were then rewarded with a gruesome display of carnage that at one point was unique to the Mortal Kombat series.

Much like the previous martial art of Ansatsuken from Street Fighter, fatalities don’t really have a basis in reality but they sure do look cool.
