When executed correctly, a spinning strike can land with devastating effect, but the guy in this video will no doubt think twice in the future before unleashing his bizarre ‘helicopter’ technique in a fight again!

The footage begins with the scrap on the street well underway, as the man in the gray t-shirt lands a push kick to the midsection of his opponent in the white shirt, knocking him back a few paces.

At this stage the two men both appear to have some idea of what they are doing as they circle each other in a fighting stance with their hands up, using head movement and feints as they look for an opportunity to strike.

White-shirt lands a straight right and then soon after he drops his adversary to the road with a right hook. However, Gray-shirt picks himself up and gets right back to it.

The two size each other up at range, then white-shirt steps in and misses with a straight right. Gray is then able to counter with a right hand, and that’s when things start to get weird!

Whether he simply panicked and lost his composure after being dazed from the shot he’d just taken, or genuinely thought this would be a devastating, fight-ending move, White-shirt suddenly starts spinning around in a circle with his arms outstretched.

If we were being generous we’d say he was attempting a spinning back-fist, but quite frankly it looks more like he’s doing a half-hearted impression of a helicopter.

Whatever the case, Gray-shirt is clearly not impressed and clocks him with a right hand mid-spin that sends Mr. Helicopter falling face-first onto the curb, then sprawling onto the road.

Giving his dazed opponent no time to recover, Gray then runs up and brutally soccer kicks the still-grounded man in the face, though mercifully that needless knockout blow isn’t seen on camera.

The old adage, keep it simple, stupid! seems appropriate here. White-shirt had gained the upper hand in the fight, but his attempt to get creative in the heat of the battle backfired dramatically.

Perhaps the unfortunate individual can take some comfort from the fact that he’s not the first fighter to make a critical error of judgment like this.

A classic example in MMA would be when Chael Sonnen attempted a spinning back-fist against Anderson Silva in their UFC 148 title rematch, but missed completely and fell on his butt, leading to his bitter rival finishing him by TKO just moments later.
