Fighting in the street is always very dangerous and never recommended. There are just so many things that can go wrong and it should be avoided at all costs.
However, if someone attacks you and forces you to defend yourself that is a different story. An often neglected aspect of fighting and self defense is the environment or conditions in which you fight in. Whether it be in a bar or club, on pavement or grass, in rain or in this case snow, where you fight can have a big impact on fighting strategy.
In this YouTube video, self defense expert Nick Drossos goes over the proper way to fight during the winter months and highlights how it changes things.

In the video Nick goes over how to take advantage of the bulky clothing people wear during the winter months and how to manipulate it to control your opponent. Much like using the gi as grips in BJJ or judo, you can easily use someones jacket to tie them up and from there easily land strikes. Also, grabbing someones jacket arms locks them up and prevents them from punching you.
Another important factor to consider with winter fighting is the slippery conditions. That makes using kicks much more risky as you could easily slip and wind up on your back which is not where you want to be in a street fight or self defense situation.
