Everyone loves the knockout, but there’s something particularly brutal when the KO causes the victim to land face first onto the canvas. So let’s take a look at the Top 5 Face-plant knockouts in Mixed Martial Arts.
5) All it takes is one punch
In an MMA contest the finish can come in an instant with one fighter finding out the hard way as Brazilian fighter Alexandre Cidade fired off a laser right hand onto the jaw of fellow countryman Joel Dos Santos causing him to spin 180 degrees and eat the canvas face first.

4) Semtex melts the Hands of Steel
Strikeforce was known for always putting on exciting style matchups and this one certainly didn’t disappoint as Paul ‘Semtex’ Daley welcomed Scott ‘Hands of Steel’ Smith to the welterweight division in 2010.

With both fighters packing dynamite in their hands, it would be Daley that would find a home for his patented left hook knocking the former WEC champ out cold.
3) Thrown face first!
Not all face-plant knockouts are authored by strikes as demonstrated in the following fight from the show Fight Time 34. In a textbook ‘rock’em sock’em robots’ affair, Luis Alvarez found the chin of Martin Georges and chased him around the cage looking for the knockout, but only managed to get it after a failed shoulder throw brutally sent Martin’s face right into the canvas putting him out instantly.

2) Rolles Gracie does the Ric Flair Flop
It is not often we get to see a legitimate pro wrestling move executed successfully in a mixed martial arts fight, but when we do it’s always something to behold. At WSOF 5 heavyweight Derrick Mehman landed a thunderous overhand right on Rolles Gracie which caused the BJJ fighter to channel his inner Ric Flair and kiss the canvas.

1) You got KTFO!!
Perhaps one of the famous UFC knockouts in recent years, former bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey entered hostile territory for her sixth title defense against Brazilian brawler Bethe Correira.
In a bout that lasted only 34 seconds, it was Rousey who would come out brawling, knocking out Correira with a flurry of punches sending the hometown fighter face first into the canvas ad for ‘Straight Outta Compton’.
