You’re probably familiar with Nate Diaz by now. Millions of fans witnessed his thrilling and shocking upset victory win over UFC superstar, Conor McGregor.

What you may not know is that this was not the first time the American had looked amazing inside the cage. In fact, Nate Diaz is notorious for regularly displaying thrilling performances inside the UFC Octagon, be it brutal KOs, beautiful submissions, or crazy antics.

Here’s your chance to catch up. Have a look at five times where Nate Diaz shined inside the UFC cage.

5) Nate Diaz submits Jim Miller

Nate Diaz beat Jim Miller at UFC on Fox: Diaz vs Miller on May 5, 2012 but what surprised observers is HOW he managed to beat him. Miller is a tough opponent for anyone and a grappling wizard on top of that. Nate Diaz’s guillotine choke submission victory against Miller remains one of the best performances of the Stockton native inside the Octagon.

4) Nate Diaz gives the middle finger to Pellegrino while choking him out

Nate Diaz caught Kurt Pellegrino in a triangle choke during their 2008 UFC fight, but reacted to the submission in a very special way…

Before the referee even put a stop to the bout, Diaz proceeded to celebrate his soon-to-be victory by flexing and giving the finger to Pellegrino while the latter was still caught in the choke. He was so confident in his triangle choke submission that he went full-on celebration mode before the fight even was stopped, which happened shortly after.

Seriously, who else besides Nate Diaz could pull off something like that?

3) Nate Diaz flips the bird to Cerrone, proceeds to beat him up

There was a lot of bad blood between Nate Diaz and Donald ‘Cowboy’ Cerrone going into UFC 141. Diaz slapped off Cowboy’s hat at the pre-fight press conference, and the two had talked a lot of smack to each other.

The fight was a total domination in favor of Diaz. Cerrone had no answer for Diaz’s amazing boxing skills. Not satisfied with merely beating Cerrone up, Diaz gave him the finger in-between rounds and proceeded to beat him up some more afterwards in what remains one of the craziest moments that ever happened inside the Octagon.

Diaz backed up his pre-fight trash talk in what was one of the most beautiful displays of boxing technique in UFC history.

2) Nate Diaz obliterates Gray Maynard

There are KOs, and there are amazing KOs. This one falls under the last category.
Nate Diaz was clearly the best striker against Gray Maynard. He battered him on the feet with a flurry of punches so badly that he basically knocked him out standing. The referee had to step in to stop the fight as a very wobbly Maynard crumbled to the ground.

1) Nate Diaz shocks the world

Nate Diaz shocked the world at UFC 196 by defeating UFC superstar Conor McGregor. The bout started in McGregor’s favor but Nate Diaz managed to turn the tables and impose his will. Rocked and wobbly on the feet, the Irishman shot for a desperate takedown… Bad idea against someone as savvy on the ground as Diaz.

Diaz’s submission victory is one of the biggest upsets in UFC history and by far his most impressive outing yet.
