Bringing a slingshot to a machete fight seems like the worst idea of all-time, but as this unsettling video proves, in a street fight anything can happen.

The alarming incident took place between two young kids in Brazil, with a bystander filming the fight from a safe distance.

While it’s not entirely clear how the situation escalated to this point, it appears that the kid in the red shirt has refused to give his bare-chested rival the slingshot, and so he grabbed a machete as long as his arm and is threatening him with it.

However, Slingshot Kid is remarkably fearless under the circumstances and stubbornly refuses to back down, leading to a tense standoff between them.

At the 30 second mark Slingshot Kid takes a wild swipe at his rival, who moves back out of the way and then remarkably steps forward again, just out of range of the weapon.

As if this ‘David Vs Goliath’ of weapon fights wasn’t bizarre enough on it’s own, there are at least two adult voices in the background, but they make no effort to intervene as the situation continues to escalate.

At one point the two boys are within a pace of each other, but thankfully, despite holding the machete up in the air ready to attack, the kid wielding it hesitates to engage.

Soon after his anger boils over though and he suddenly strikes the ground with the machete blade, mere inches from his rival’s bare feet.

Slingshot Kid retaliates almost instantly by swinging the slingshot at him, and as fate would have it the weapon strikes Machete Kid square in the face, dropping him to the ground, while crying out in pain.

That was certainly an unexpected turn of events and brought about an abrupt end to the altercation, but it could easily have ended up a whole lot worse.

That being said, what really boggles the mind is the fact that the kids were able to get their hands on weapons like that in the first place, particularly while adults were watching!
