The song “Kung Fu Fighting” was written and performed by Carl Douglas, and released as a single in 1974. It eventually rose to the top of the British and American charts, and sold eleven million records worldwide. It was one of the best-selling singles of all time.
The lyrics and sound helped define an era:
Everybody was Kung Fu fighting
Those kids were fast as lightning
In fact it was a little bit fright’ning
But they fought with expert timing
In the forty plus years since, there has never been a real scene that so well captured the song. The video begins with five youths swarming one.
The backstory is unknown, and so some have reacted negatively to the characterization of the five as bullies. However, when five kids, some of them larger, all try to fight a single kid at once, it’s bullying.
And in this case, justice was done, and five little attitudes were adjusted, due to excellent use of footwork, striking, and kicking.
There was speculation that this took in Deng Feng, China. The town was reportedly built to house all the martial arts schools that sprung up around the site of the original Shaolin temple. As you might imagine, there is a great deal of rivalry between the different schools, and fights are common.

Given that the entire population has been training in Chinese martial arts means, basically, that all of Deng Feng is Kung Fu fighting. The apparel the youth are wearing are similar to the kind of uniform you see at a school in the region.

Or perhaps this took place in Korea, and the youth is doing Taekwondo. Or just maybe this is the reincarnation of the The Little Dragon, Bruce Lee himself.
Of anyone has any information on the clip, please let us know. We would love to get the young man his due.
