In New York’s Times Square, an Algeria-born Muslim man costumed as Spiderman was working taking pictures as tourists, when at random he walked past a large and imposing onlooker.

There was a guy harassing a number of performers, other costumed folks,” reported eyewitness Geoff Golberg. “They’ve notoriously had issues with him in the past.”

The harasser stayed true to form.

“You’re a terrorist,” hissed the spectator to Muslim Spiderman, who identified his name as Josh, not Peter.

Muslim Spiderman could have turned the other cheek, but as Uncle Ben said, sort of, “With great power comes great responsibility… And the conviction and strength of character to stand up to intolerance.”

Muslim Spiderman then confronted the intolerant onlooker, asking him to take his own side in an argument, and repeat for others to hear what he had just said. The large man stood impassively. Eventually, Muslim Spiderman went back to work, and the man taunted him in a loud voice.

Spiderman could take no more

“You’re calling me a terrorist, because I’m a Muslim?” he yelled. “Get a job… You’re stupid, an idiot,” he added, accurately. Muslim Spiderman then went back to work, taking pics with tourists.

Then the glowering accuser walked forward.

“Don’t take no picture with him,” he admonished. “And you don’t have to give him no money, either. Terrorist.”

Even Elmo was taken aback.

The harasser then grabbed a sign, and Spiderman sprang into action, launching a Spidey kick at the hater, and followed up with a left jab. Muslim Spiderman went to launch a front kick, but the man rushed forward into a clinch.

There was a takedown into a scramble into a takedown into a scramble, to top control. Then to the cheers of the crowd, he applied a choke. At this point the crowd broke up the tussle.

And thus the legend of Muslim Spiderman was born.
