These days cameras are everywhere. From cell phones, CCTV, dash cams and in this case helmet cams – somebody is usually always watching. That’s why it is always amazing that people still commit crimes and acts of violence knowing full well it could end up on YouTube.
Though the motorcyclist in this video from CNN could have done a better job attempting to diffuse the situation initially, this guy would probably have attacked anyway regardless of what he said.
According to the video, what preceded this was the motorcyclist behaving like a typical motorcyclist, sneaking in between cars (which is illegal in Arizona where this took place). Still, that is no reason for the motorist to get violent and punch the biker right in the head. Though it probably hurt his hand more than the guy’s head as he was wearing a helmet at the time.
Right after that, when the motorcyclist’s girlfriend tries to diffuse the situation, this guy shoves her which escalates the situation greatly as it is never okay to put your hands on a woman. It also demonstrates that this guy is probably nuts and therefore unpredictable.
This forced the biker to finally get involved physically to defend not only himself but his girlfriend as well. “You better stop!” He tells the attacking motorist when he sees him winding up for another attack.

The biker then overpowers the older man by taking him down to the ground and controlling him from on top. He then tells his girlfriend to call the police. It should be noted as well that the biker showed exemplary restraint here as it is pointed out in the video.

It is also revealed at the end of the video that the attacker was most likely intoxicated which explains his aggressive behavior. It also makes you question his mental state as drinking and driving is a much more dangerous and serious offense compared to lane splitting. Eventually the police arrive and haul this guy away. Kudos to the motorcyclist for keeping his cool.
