Although the average person may associate striking with just punching and kicking, the elbow is perhaps one of the most devastating striking weapons available, with its effectiveness consistently displayed in the martial art of Muay Thai to very brutal effect.
So how do you incorporate the elbow in your own martial arsenal and how can it be adapted for self defense purposes?
In this edition of Master Wong techniques, you will learn what Master Wong refers to as the “basic elbow everyone should know”.
Throughout the lesson Master Wong will go through how to parry an incoming one-two combination, how to use the elbow both offensive and defensively, distancing and range as well as a drill to put all of this together to help make the move become second nature.

Michael Wong originally came to England at the age of ten as a refugee from Vietnam. He first took up martial arts as a result of being bullied at school. Starting his training with a Chinese Master in the United Kingdom, Sifu Wong progressed quickly in skill and after five years traveled to Hong Kong and mainland China to study with a variety of Chinese masters in his early twenties.
Training in a wide variety of martial arts has given Sifu Wong a foundation and skill level rarely seen in the martial arts world. It also allows him to provide a highly comprehensive teaching program for a great many students with differing requirements. This then eventually led to the opening of the Master Wong Academy at Charles Street in Ipswich, becoming one of only a handful of full-time training centers in the region.
