Having a gun pointed at you is one of the most terrifying things that a person can experience. Everything you know, everything you think you know, and all rational thought goes out the window when a gun is pointed at you, however; if a gun is pointed at you then that is actually a good thing.

The fact that the firearm-wielding assailant did not simply shoot you and walk away means that he doesn’t want to kill you…he wants something else. This is good news, if he wanted to kill you, he would have simply shot you.

Consider yourself as lucky as one can be in such a situation.

In a situation such as the aforementioned, the ability to adequately and intelligently defend yourself is paramount. Your life is literally at risk and just because you haven’t been shot doesn’t mean you won’t be. There is still an armed man standing in front of you who literally has your life in his hands.

We have all seen the various depictions of this scenario in hundreds upon hundreds of movies and we all have an idea of exactly what we would do. Well…we are ALL WRONG.

My first martial arts instructor taught me the only gun defense I have ever taught and that is because it is the only one I have ever used, and it worked (only once thank goodness). If a gun is pointed at you and you are not dead then more than likely that person wants something from you, probably money. Give them what they want and then run as fast as possible getting out of the line of site as quickly as possible.

If that is not an option, check out the video below as Master Wong teaches you an alternative method.
