A self-defense situation is adequately described as any event or set of circumstances in which a person feels a sense of harm is inevitable if the surrounding circumstances do not change. In an aforementioned situation, the most important aspect of said situation is safety; preferably safety for all involved but primarily safety for the person that is feeling as if he or she is in danger. There is a plethora of self-defense maneuvers for an infinite number of situations and the most important facet of any measure of self-defense is to make sure that the technique employed is appropriate.
For example, if a mugger pulls a knife out and is attempting to rob you, although an effective self-defense measure, pulling a gun out and shooting the mugger in the face is not appropriate. As a matter of the fact, most laws indicate that the level of self-defense is directly proportional to the level of the threat, i.e. a person may respond with less than or as much force as the attacker. Finding yourself in a situation where someone has a gun pointed directly at your face is probably one of the most terrifying and potentially horrific situations one can encounter.

My martial arts instructor has a very implicit, effective, and simple self-defense maneuver for any situation that involves a person attempting to hold you up at gun point: give them your wallet and run as fast as you can in the other direction. Although this advice is practical and effective there is a ton of self-defense moves specifically for the aforementioned situation. Below Master Ken takes a look at what is known as the world’s fastest gun disarm and proceeds to elaborate on exactly what is wrong with it.
