Jesse Eisenberg is an American actor who is perhaps best known for his leading roles in Zombieland, The Social Network and Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice where he played bad guy Lex Luthor.

Prior to filming the action/comedy flick American Ultra, Eisenberg underwent some martial arts training at KSK Martial Arts in Michigan to help prepare him for the role.

KSK Martial Arts teaches an eclectic style of martial arts incorporating techniques from several different styles such as MMA, JKD, as well as the character building teachings of traditional arts.

According to the head instructor at KSK, Eisenberg was a pleasure to work with and didn’t have the typical ‘Hollywood ego’ he expected from such a famous actor like Eisenberg.

According to this video too, Eisenberg returned to the same martial arts academy to help get him ready for his role as Lex Luthor in Batman vs Superman. They did some weapons training as well as some pad work and striking drills.

Martial arts training can benefit people from all walks of life and Eisenberg had this to say about the whole experience:

“It’s the greatest thing for an actor to have something visceral to do because it gets you out of your distracted mind. So it’s the best possible thing for me. So I love doing this, it got me in shape and it was great for my acting skill set as well.”
