These days, not a lot of people spend time thinking about home invasions that occur when the homeowner is actually home. With advancements on both sides of the coin, burglars are ever-improving their techniques and home security systems are constantly being improved, the scenario is becoming increasingly rare, however, there is still that possibility.

Take what happened last week in Oklahoma as an example. Three men entered a home with the intent to burglarize the property, after the fact police found out from the getaway driver that they had gone to the house earlier, presumably casing the property and intending on burglarizing it while no one was home. Unfortunately for these three men, the property owner was home, is a gun owner, and Oklahoma has a stand your ground law. All three men were killed.

What happens if you are in that situation? Personally, like many, I am not a gun owner. So what would my options be? What about yours? There are many options that can be considered as an improvised weapon but look no further than your kitchen.

In all likelihood, if you find yourself in this predicament, the burglar is not there to harm you, simply to rob you. With that in mind, the chances that the burglar is carrying a gun, or any weapon for that matter, is slim making your chances of being able to defend yourself and possibly restraining the burglar until police arrive that much greater.

To help us in our quest for improvised weapons training is Luke Holloway of Raw Combat International. In the video below, he describes various ways in which a frying pan can be used as a self-defense tool.
