It is an all too common scene in many action movies out there. The cop and the perp fight it out before the bad guy ends up in cuffs. But that could never happen in real life with all the rules and regulations officers have to follow – or so you’d think..

In this YouTube video that was featured on CNN, we see that very scenario play out in real life. Though the video claims the officer was the first to throw the punch, it looks like the larger suspect threw an arm out before that either in an attempt to shove the officer or a lazy jab.

Regardless, the officer responds with a straight right hand punch that is most likely not the proper procedure. Nevertheless, the suspect puts his hands up too and returns fire, turning this already heated confrontation into an all out street brawl. Though the officer is a bit out sized here he lands the better shots in this brief scuffle and avoids taking any damage.

According to the video, what started this conflict was the officers believed the man had a knife and were investigating that claim. He doesn’t comply with the officer’s request and it physically escalates further from there.

Most of the time in this type of situation the officers involved would usually pull out their weapons or perhaps even taze the aggressive suspect. The officer is this video would rather throw down even though the suspect is quite a bit bigger than himself.

Another risk in this situation is if this guy actually had a knife he could have pulled it out and since neither of the officer’s weapons were drawn that could have ended really badly.

Luckily though nobody was seriously injured here, and the suspect was successfully restrained and arrested once other officers arrived on the scene.
