Fighting in the street is something that should be avoided at all costs. There are simply too many variables, so much that can go wrong and not a whole lot that can go right. Even if you win, now you have to worry about getting into trouble, sometimes big trouble.
That’s why even the most skilled martial artists know to never fight in the street unless they have no other choice which is going to be in a self-defense situation.
For those that have never been hit really hard in a fight before, it can really take you by surprise and throw you off your game. Many people will panic in this situation and that’s the last thing you want to do in a self-defense situation.

That’s why this video from fightTIPS can really come in handy if you ever find yourself in this dire situation.
Shane, the fightTIPS guy, first points out that once you take a big hit you need to cover up so you don’t get hit again. Also, Shane advises that you don’t want to back straight up as you can get chased down and lit up.
Moving side to side is the better option, circling away from your opponents power hand and from there you can look to do a couple things.
Shane recommends moving in to tie your opponent up in the clinch, wrapping up your opponent’s arms so they can’t hit you anymore. A take down is another option too if you’ve got the skills as it can give you some more time to recover.
