The title of this article is pretty self-explanatory and the description of the video as provided by the creators more or less says it all so let’s start with that: Are you looking to land that one knockout punch in a fight?

Well let me first say that’s a risky strategy, especially if you’re just flailing your arms wildly. It’s about proper technique, accuracy, and timing — not necessarily power! We break down what the best punch to knock someone out with is and why!

To reiterate from previous articles, particularly in regards to self-defense and street fighting remember that neither www.mixedmartialarts.com nor myself promote street fighting or physical acts of violence in any form or fashion but there are those occasions that arise which simply require that you defend yourself fight.

The lesson taught here is a simple one that can lead to the end of a physical altercation and aid a person drastically that finds themselves in a self defense situation.

In the video below, we don’t necessarily learn the single punch that will knock someone out so much the techniques that cause a punch to be a knockout punch. As with anything, power counts for a lot but more than anything technique and movement are what is important in this situation.

As a matter of the fact, more or less, with any striking art, and this goes for grappling as well, all things being equal, technique will overcome power every time.

So check out the video below as the techniques that make a punch a knockout punch are discussed. Although a variety of punches could be used, the demonstrator in this video decides to use the lead hook, a very effective, quick, and easy to learn technique.
