When someone becomes a victim of a malicious attack it typically comes at a moment of vulnerability which gives the attacker an optimal advantage, and unfortunately due to these types of attacks being quite common it can be hard to balance your time between constantly guarding against threats versus going on with your day.

Prime examples of when these attacks can occur include having your back turned and getting sucker punched, having your back against a wall or in this case sitting down on a seat.

So if you found yourself isolated on a seat browsing your smart phone and suddenly found yourself in a threatening scenario what would be your first choice of defense?

In this edition of fightTIPS, instructor Shan Frazer breaks this scenario which can be applied whether you are in a class room or riding the subway.

Throughout the lesson Shane breaks down what not to do in situation like this, how to use your seated position as a means to transition to effective grappling as well as what striking options are available to you so you can deter the attacker.
