I’m going to be honest: I don’t know sh*t about hockey. The only times I find myself watching a hockey game is when a brawl breaks out. I’m still sratching my head as to why the sport of hockey seems to feature so many brawl between players, by the way. Whatever the reason might be, allow me to introduce you to the wildest hockey brawl ever.

August 8, 2016. Russian League hockey teams HC Kunlun Red Star and Barys Astana are playing a friendly pre-season game… until things get south just 3 minutes in.

Damir Ryspayev, a Barys Astana player, grabs a member of the opposite team and punches him out of the f**king blue. Just like that, out of nowhere. The man is floored.

Ryspayev’s gesture is starting to cause chaos. Two other players are now brawling. Ryspayev is FIRED UP. He goes for another player and punches him until he falls, and then drags him on the ice. He then goes for another one… and another one. Ryspayez grabs both men and punches them before dragging them on the ice.

Ryspayev is now on a rampage.

The madman attacks another player, who ends up unconscious on the ice. Ryspayev has now attacked and hurt FOUR men… but that’s still not enough for the Russian player, who’s now going for the opposite team’s bench!

He starts trading punches with basically all of the other players. The brawl is starting to look like an all-out melee. Referees eventually manage to break up the altercation and escort Ryspayev away from the scene manu militari.

Phew. That’s by far the wildest and craziest hockey brawl I’ve ever witnessed. Starting a fight against another player is rife in hockey… going on a rampage against the ENTIRE opposite team is definitely NOT.

Unsurprisingly, Damir Ryspayev has been banned from playing in this year’s Russian League hockey season as a result of the incident.
