Bullying is a sad reality for many younger people, especially in today’s world with social media and everything that comes along with it. Though there of course are bullies in adult life as well, it is a different type of bullying. Usually more subtle. However, the bullying that takes place in this video is not so subtle.

A group of three 20-year-olds WAS bullying a 14-year-old teen and his father, until a Marine stepped up to help out the teen and save the day.

“It was not a situation I could just walk past,” says the former Marine, Wen Jones, 44. The Marine got involved and the situation escalated quickly. Unfortunately, real life doesn’t always unfold as it does in the movies and the good guys don’t always win. Three against one are not good odds.

The heroic Marine was beaten unconscious. The attack only stopped when the 14-year-old’s father, LeRoy Wright Jr., ran to his car and returned with a baseball bat, As you can see in the video below from ABC News, the damage to Jones’ face was severe. He sustained a concussion, a broken orbital, and needed a number of stitches.

Although he may have lost the battle, Jones won the war – he stopped the bullying from happening by putting himself in harm’s way.

When asked, Jones said he would do it again in a heartbeat. “Doing the right thing is always the right thing,” he explained. Most unfortunately, years later Jones reported that he gets tired much more quickly, as a result of the head trauma.

And what happened to the bullying cowards who teamed up on a guy like that, three against one?

Cody Roon, Eric Deiter, and Tyler Carswell were all arrested by police and charged with felonies due to the extent of Jones’ injuries.  A second-degree felony, the charge carried a maximum penalty of 15 years in prison.

However, prosecutors ultimately allowed Cody Roon and Eric Deiter to plead guilty to lesser charges, and serve two and three years probation, respectively. Charges against Tyler Carswell were dropped, when it was determined that he was trying to stop the attack.
