In MMA if you choke your opponent out then that’s considered the end of the bout, but in a street fight situation it doesn’t always work out that way.

It’s not clear why the two youths in this video got into a fight, but whatever sparked it off, they are already going at it hell for leather as the footage begins.

In the early stages of the fight it’s the kid in the blue t-shirt who seems to be getting the better of the action, taking his shirtless rival down with a schoolyard headlock and landing some ground and pound blows, as his friends cheer him on from the sidelines.

Shirtless gets back to his feet and executes a takedown of his own, but blue t-shirt scrambles up quickly and continues reeling off punches.

He should have been more mindful of the risk of being taken down again however, and that’s exactly what happens moments later as Shirtless again puts him on his back, and this time steps straight into full mount.

Blue-shirt turns and gives up his back, and it’s at this point that it becomes evident that the shirtless fighter has at least a basic knowledge of Jiu-Jitsu as he attempts to secure back mount and sink in a rear-naked choke.

As the choke is being applied, blue-shirt tries to stand and break free, but shirtless remains latched onto his back and fully locks the submission move up as he drops back down to the ground.

There’s no escape for blue-shirt and a few second later he’s put to sleep by the choke.

Blue-shirt’s friends rush in to stop the fight at that point and shirtless let’s go of the hold, apologizing for not realizing that his opponent was out, but is still roughly manhandled by one of the onlookers.

After coming too again, it seems that blue-shirt is in denial about what’s just transpired, and he goes back to his rival and starts shoving at him again.

To his credit, shirtless keeps his cool and says he doesn’t want to fight again. Eventually blue-shirt gets the message and reluctantly backs down, leaving with his tail between his legs.

A rear-naked choke can be a very effective way to end a fight quickly and leaves your opponent essentially unharmed.

That last point is also a negative though as it means that after a few seconds they could potentially be back on their feet and coming after you again as if nothing had happened, as was the case here.

Nonetheless, jiu-jitsu has been proven many times over to be a very effective way to protect yourself, but really it should only ever be used in a self-defense situation where you are left with no other alternative but to fight.
