It’s Official:
The most full contact punch strikes in one minute is 805 by Robert Ardito (Australia) in Sydney, Australia, on 18 March 2009.
Wing Chun specializes in rapidly executed strikes, so it is not surprising that the world record is held by, Sifu Master Robert Ardito, a disciple of Wing Chun Grandmaster Jim Fung. In fact, Sifu Master Ardito holds an Accredited Speed punching Certificate signed by the late yip Man’s Closed Door Student (Great Grandmaster Sigung Tsui Seung Tin). The areas Master Robert covers includes Chi Jerk.
On 16 August 2005, Ardito smashed the old record, with 428 punches. We call this one Wing Chun > Karate.

On 18 March 2007, Ardito broke the record again, with 702 punches. However, a martial arts master from the USA then did 713 punches.
“I was very excited when I found out my record had been beaten as I knew this would lead me to train hard to achieve an extraordinary result,” said Robert.
In 2009 Ardito set the record that stands until this day – 805 punches in 60 seconds. The event was held at the International Wing Chun Academy, Sydney, with several witnesses and two independent martial arts experts.
“My martial art punch strikes per second are now averaging approximately 13.5 punches a second for 60 seconds,” said Sifu Master. “But I know I can do even more. Wing Chun teaches you relaxation, skill and mind power, which can increase your speed reflex and force and how to overcome brute strength with minimal effort.”
There have been suggestions that Master Sifu Robert’s speed skills do not translate well to realistic fighting. Well, what do you think after seeing THIS!
