This gas pump attendant quickly chopped a would-be thief down to size when he attempted to rob the gas station he was working at in the middle of the night.

CCTV captured the incident and initially shows the attendant returning to the building after serving a customer, shutting a cage door behind him.

Moments later the opportunistic robber, wearing a blue coat with the hood up, is seen striding across the well-lit forecourt, checking in all directions as he does so.

The brazen thug then pushes open the same cage door that the attendant has just passed through and quickly follows after him, momentarily moving off-camera as he does so.

It’s a potentially dangerous situation that the pump attendant now finds himself in, but he appears to take it all in his stride and just a few seconds later he appears on camera grappling with the would-be robber.

He’s quickly able to shove the man back out of the cage enclosure and onto the forecourt. The robber tries to break free, but the attendant still has a firm grip of his jacket.

He then shows good self-defense awareness in a stressful situation by firmly sweeping his attacker’s lead leg out from underneath him, which sends him slamming down to the asphalt on his back.

The attendant then issues a foot stomp to the thug’s head and drags him back down by the hood when he attempts to get to his feet.

The troublemaker is eventually able to stand back up and breaks free, running off down the forecourt.

However, he slows down near one of the gas pumps and looks as if he’s about to do something to it, so the attendant bravely chases after him.

The cowardly thief clearly isn’t the sharpest tool in the shed, but it appears he knows better than to attempt to fight with the attendant a second time, and so he quickly turns on his heels and flees into the night.
