Few other videos on YouTube are as unnerving as this one – two guys fighting each other essentially to the death with what look to be kitchen knives. What’s equally disturbing is that there is a crowd of people watching this, filming it, and look to be egging it on too. Perhaps it is a culture thing. This looks to have taken place in a third world Latin America country as is usually the case with these type of videos.

All it would take is just one slash or stab of the blade in the right squishy part and as UFC commentator Mike Goldberg would say “It is all over!” You can see in the latter half of the video, after the fight, one of the combatants has a chest wound. Granted he is still standing when it is over so it likely wasn’t a mortal wound but you can’t say for sure.

Interesting to note however, is that both combatants are holding their knives in the icepick grip (aka reverse grip). This usually is not used by skilled knife fighters as it limits your attacks to overhead hacking movements. Forward grips offer more options both offensively and defensively and in any sort of combat scenario you want to have the most options possible. Note: The better option is always to avoid trouble and look to escape unharmed.

Also interesting is that they both have a makeshift shield on their opposite arm. It looks to be consisted of simply a wrapped up jacket but perhaps it would help a little.
