There are not many people that leave the house during the day or at night that intend to get into a street fight. There are some that do but those people are few and far between as the average Joe has no intentions of getting into a physical altercation…EVER.

Even more rare are the life threatening or life changing situations where a person may have to defend themselves because their life is quite literally at risk and to make matters worse the attacker may have a weapon, may have set a trap, you be in a situation where you are getting jumped, or you may find yourself with your attacker on top of you implementing a technique known in mixed martial arts as ground and pound.

Just as the name implies, when on the defensive end of this position, one finds himself, or herself, on the ground with the imminent threat on top of them in a dominant position being punched, elbowed, or even head butted.

There are those instances when this happens and what happens when you are in a situation that absolutely requires you to fight and you find yourself in the aforementioned position?

Well, neither www.mixedmartialarts.com nor myself promote street fighting or physical acts of violence in any form or fashion but we do wholeheartedly support increasing one’s knowledge in situational de-escalation and safety to be utilized in a self-defense scenario.

Enter Master Wong…

Master Wong masterfully demonstrates self-defense techniques that can be utilized when one finds themselves on the wrong end of a physical altercation in the video below.

So check out the instructional and add ground and pound self-defense to your arsenal of self-protection knowledge.
