Being president of the United States is one of the most dangerous jobs in the world. Members of the British Parliament too have been subject to attacks over the years:
1979 • Airey Neave assassinated by an IRA car bomb.
1990 • Ian Gow assassinated by an IRA bomb.
2000 • Nigel Jones stabbed in the hand by a samurai sword wielding assailant. Local councillor Andrew Pennington was killed in the same attack.
2010 • Stephen Timms stabbed twice in the stomach by a female al-Qaeda sympathizer, who has since been jailed for life.2016
2016 • Jo Cox died in hospital after being shot and stabbed by a constituent with a history of psychiatric problems and links to a US-based neo-Nazi group.
In June, a large number of Labour MPs called the police over death threats over their no confidence vote in leader Jeremy Corbyn. And MP Angela Eagle had a brick thrown through her office window of her constituency office after she announcing a bid to become Labour leader. A recent report found four out of five MPs have been victims of intrusive or aggressive behavior.
One response has been to offer Members of Parliament and their staff free lessons in Krav Maga, organized by Parli-training. Founded by Mendora Ogbogbo, Parli-training is a specialist training company, which provides intensive but practical, user-friendly vocational training courses for people working within Public Affairs.
The classes were conducted by instructors from Raw Combat Essex and Yorkshire Urban Krav Maga.

‘We are teaching them techniques where if someone comes at them with a knife or a gun, they can disarm the weapons and then run,” said Ms. Ogbogbo. “They are not being taught how to fight.
“Another technique we are teaching them is called the ‘rhino’, where they know how to cover the vulnerable parts of their heads when someone is punching them. This will give them a vital three or four minutes before someone intervenes.
“We also teach a method where if someone is lying on top of them in a fight, they can wriggle from under them and run.”
Two MPs and 18 assistants attended the first Krav Maga training session in Whitehall, according to Ms. Ogbogbo. Another will be held in November.
