There are many traditional martial arts out there that claim to be the best for self defense applications on the street. Many of those involved in these martial arts even scoff at the idea of sport based martial arts having the upper hand in self defense.

The fact remains that sport based martial arts like Brazilian jiu jitsu, muay thai, wrestling, MMA and in this case boxing usually reign supreme in and out of the ring. This is because they practice and compete against fully resisting opponent who are trying to defeat them as well.

That’s not to say traditional martial arts aren’t beneficial as just about every art has some techniques which may be effective. There are also other factors which training in TMAs can benefit such as confidence, respect, and discipline.

In this YouTube video we see someone who most definitely has boxing experience, to what level is anyone’s guess, taking on someone who clearly does not know how to fight very well.

The two appear to be having words then decided to take it to the street. Funny enough there are a bunch of kids around and they don’t seem to mind too much. That tells you this is a rough neighborhood because in a suburban neighborhood you’d have people freaking out and calling the cops most likely.

The fight starts and the shirtless man is in a much more proper stance where the guy in the shirt’s legs are too far apart putting him off balance. The shirtless guy is using great head movement and landing straight, crisp punches and his opponent lands nothing of note. You can hear the sound it makes when he lands which probably means it hurts.

The suspected shirtless boxer then lands a good one two then literally scares his rocked opponent to the ground in hilarious fashion. What is nice to see about this fight is he showed a lot of restraint, as most trained fighters would do. He was the vastly superior fighter and had nothing more left to prove.
