Although the martial art of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is widely seen within a sporting context such as mixed martial arts or submission grappling tournaments, it also a formidable self defense art which is utilized by a variety of people ranging from civilians to law enforcement to military personnel with a number of books and DVD’s authored on the subject.

Additionally Ryron and Rener Gracie also run their own anti-bullying program called ‘Gracie Bullyproof’ which teaches children how to build their confidence on and off of the mats with physical and verbal tools to themselves out of harm’s way.

So how does Brazilian JiuJitsu fare against not just a surprise attack but a surprise attack that also involves a knife?

Brazilian jiu-jitsu is a martial art, combat sport system that focuses on grappling and especially ground fighting.
