The most famous pro wrestler in history that the title is referring to is of course Andre ‘The Giant’ who stood around seven feet tall and was about just as wide and reigned in the seventies and eighties.

The boxer interestingly enough is Chuck Wepner who’s famous fight with Muhammad Ali inspired Sylvester Stallone to write the movie ‘Rocky’. Perhaps he found inspiration in this match as well because it is strikingly similar to Rocky’s match with Thunderlips in Rocky 3.

According to an insider, both men agreed beforehand that they’d give a good show and both would take and give some shots. That changed however when they got into the ring. Apparently Wepner became overwhelmed with Andre’s immense size and felt Andre was bullying him or going too hard in some way and decided to really start to hit him hard.

As the commentators point out the size difference is extreme. And for those not in the know, Wepner wasn’t a small man by any means. Six foot five and two-hundred and thirty pounds. Just shows you how huge Andre the Giant was.

At first it looks like they are going pretty light. Wepner pawing out some jabs and Andre grabbing him and holding him until the referee separates them. Early in the second round it looks to start to heat up. Wepner starts hitting him a little harder and then Andre slaps him hard in the back. Shortly thereafter, Wepner lands a decent left hook in between holds and Andre knees him in the midsection and that seemed real.

Early in the third Andre grabs a hold of Wepner and Wepner starts hammering him hard, many to the back on the head of Andre. Andre gets fired up then picks up the smaller man and throws him right out of the ring.

It seems that Andre is being declared the victor when out of nowhere Wepner throws an overhand right at him. Andre grabs him and they are eventually separated in this bizarre moment in history.
