In the realm of combat sports, heavyweight has historically been the money division. No title garners quite the praise and recognition of Heavyweight Champion of the World. Heavyweights pack the biggest punches and are the men from whom those in lower weight classes must be protected.

While heavyweights may hit the hardest and be the hardest to knock out, the down side of weighing 250 pounds is often a lack of agility and grace. Many heavyweight fights turn into slow, drawn out affairs between two tired, lumbering beasts. But every now and then, a heavyweight fighter comes through with the kind of technique usually reserved for much smaller men, yet still retain the devastating power for which the big men are loved.

Jeff Hughes entered his January 2016 bout against Jason The Juggernaut Riley at Caged Madness 40 with a perfect professional record of 4 wins and no losses. While heavily favored against the Riley, who entered the cage with a professional record of 10 wins and 7 losses, no one could’ve predicted Hughes would uncork a spinning head kick the likes of which a man his size rarely does.

As the time left in the first round dwindled, the fighters battled it out against the cage and in the clinch. As the ten second warning sounded, Riley threw a big elbow that lands behind the ear as the men separate.

Seemingly unphased by the elbow, Hughes throws a picture perfect spinning back kick that appears to land square on Riley’s right temple, sending him crashing to the mat like a 258lb. sack of potatoes.
