If you do combat sports long enough, you more than likely will end up with a broken nose. A nose is a group of small bones and cartilage, and it’s not built to be punched, kneed, elbowed, kicked, butted, or driven into the ground. The results of same can be disfiguring.
This is the latest f***in’ broken nose in MMA – Wade Sauer vs. Andy Eichholz at Full Nelson Productions: Let ‘Er Buck in Pendleton, Oregon. Sauer knocked out “Ice Cold” Eichholz, very breaking his nose in the process.
The nose inspired a flurry of comments across the Internet, aggregated by The Huffington Post, trying to capture how very broken the nose is:
•”So extremely broken that he could double for a Picasso painting,” said NextImpulseSports.
•”All I can picture is Daffy Duck getting hit so hard his bill ends up on the back of his head,” said a Deadspin comment.
•”God, it must be hard to pick that nose,” said someone at B/R.

Eichholz now joins a gallant group of very broken noses.
6) RICH FRANKLIN
At UFC 64 Rich Franklin came face to face with the man who would not only relieve him of the coveted UFC middleweight crown, but would go on to establish himself as the greatest fighter in UFC history.
That man in question was of course Anderson The Spider Silva.
And this is the very broken nose he left in his wake.
5) CHARLEY LYNCH
Charley Lynch suffered a horrendous beak break while competing in a middleweight bout on the premier episode of The Ultimate Fighter 11.
In a failed attempt at a takedown, Lynch ran into a knee and a punch courtesy of his opponent Clayton McKinney. McKinney is also a close friend.
4) BRANDON VERA
In a light heavyweight fight at UFC 125, Thiago Silva reconfigured Brandon Vera’s hooter to such a degree that after the fight, fans watching on the big screen gasped.
Then “The Truth” was released by the UFC.
However, Silva failed a PED test, and the bout was changed to No Contest. In addition, Silva was fined $33,750, and had his license revoked for a year. And Vera was brought back into the UFC, and won his next fight.
Vera is now the ONE heavyweight champion.
3) CUNG LE
The former Strikeforce middleweight champion made his debut for the company against the appropriately nicknamed Wanderlei The Axe Murderer Silva, at UFC 139.
In the first round Cung The Human Highlight Reel Le was able to execute his game plan of unorthodox strikes, some of which had Silva in trouble.
In the second round, however, Le ran out of steam, and Silva took full advantage—connecting with a hellacious punch which sent Le to the canvas, with a couple of pieces gone.
2) RYAN McGILLIVRAY
Ryan The Kid McGillivray took the #2 spot, and like a majority of broken noses, it happened in the gym, rather than during a fight. McGillivray, who was a cast member on the TUF 13 Series: Team Lesnar vs. Team Dos Santos, ate a knee while sparring.
The result appears to have caused a rift in the space-time continuum.

Muay Thai and Karate-based bantamweight title contender NkazimuloZuluboy Zulu fought Craig Ninow at EFC Africa 24 in Johannesburg, South Africa on Thursday, 10 October 2013. Zulu took a unanimous decision over three rounds, and Ninow fought through the brokenest noses seen to date.

No matter what happens to a nose in the cage, it cannot equal science…
This patient suffered irreparable damage to his nose from a car accident and subsequent infection. Now surgeons are growing a replacement on his forehead. Growing noses on foreheads before transplanting them to the conventional locations is based on surgical reconstruction techniques going back hundreds of years.
Still, this makes a nose rearranged in a fight look normal.
