Bullying is a tough part of growing up and an unfortunate reality for a lot of kids out there. The best way to deal with bullying is with the martial arts, for both the bullied and the bully him or herself.
For the bullied, martial arts will teach them the skills needed to defend themselves in a physical situation as well as give them the confidence to deal with whatever comes their way. For the bullies, martial arts can teach them respect and discipline as well as show them that they’re not as tough as they may think.
Not all martial arts are created equal though and by far the best martial for kids to learn is Brazilian jiu-jitsu, like the kid in the following video used to defend himself against a group of bullies.

The kid, named Jaxson Dinmore, who’s 10-years-old and a yellow belt in Jiu-jitsu, was minding his business at a local park when two bullies came up to him and started to push him around.
Jaxson used his martial arts skills to defend himself and even put one of the bullies in a choke hold until bystanders nearby could break it up.
Those same cowardly bullies would later return with hockey sticks to threaten Jaxson with and he made the right call to escape unharmed, alerting his parents who then notified police.
Compared to other martial arts, Brazilian jiu-jitsu is by far the most effective and the best for young kids as it is grappling focused. Striking based arts like boxing, Muay Thai, or MMA usually involve sparring and that may not be good for the developing brain.
Traditional martial arts like karate or TKD are usually the ‘go to’ martial arts for young kids but they are not as effective as BJJ. That’s not to say they are useless though as traditional arts can teach things like respect, discipline and focus that can benefit all kids.
