Glamour photography is a genre of photography in which the subjects are portrayed in exciting ways, often emphasizing a special area of expertise or interest. Given the wide spread of martial arts, it is only natural that that can make its way into glamor photography.

Our first example is …

KARATE KYLE

It began on February 24th, 2011, when the original Karate Kyle photo was uploaded to James Von Helton’s Facebook. The first image macro published was captioned with She deleted me from Facebook / I deleted her from life.”

That spawned 1000 variations. These are our favorite 21

WEAPONS: A FAMILY AFFAIR

The family that practices weapons together looks ludicrous together. From top left, we spotted:
Dunno what mom is waggling, but the bendy part is probably for eye poking
Katana
Kris
Sai
Bo
Butterfly swords

8) GOT A KARATE DOG

This martial artist’s noble love for his best friend brings to mind the sublime lyrics fromDavid Seeger & Holly Whitstock Seeger’s The Karate Rap:

Got a Karate life,
with my Karate wife
Two Karate kids,
and our Karate home
A Karate dog,
It’s got a Karate bone

7) TIGER CLAW

The Tiger Claw is arguably the most fearsome attack in Chinese martial arts. it is also a staple of modern military combatives. Indeed, W.E. Fairbairn, the Father of Combatives, described was quoted as saying that, as a frontal attack, the TC is the most logical strike ever worked out.

WAR FAN

Few weapons combine beauty and deadliness like the Japanese war fan, a fan designed for use in warfare. Several types of war fans were used by the samurai class of feudal Japan and each had a different look and purpose.

The three types were Gunsen, Tessen, and Gunbai. This is the first.

5) MOTHER + SON

This glamour shot of a mother and son shows each of them well on the way to the coveted black belt. The young man has already pressed to practicing with razor-sharp kama.

The mother is also famous for featured role in The Six Million Dollar Man: The Secret of Bigfoot.

4) 10 YEARS LATER

This is the same mother-son martial arts, after ten more years of hard training. Both have now earned the coveted brown belt

By this you shall know the fruits of their labor.

3) Unicorns

He may be a ninja, or a hipster. In any case, the man is clad entirely in black, from head to toe. She, a figure of purity, is clad in a white gi, with only a think line of black around her minds to remind of the deadly skills.

And the pair are being looked over by unicorns, naturally.

NOT ALL GOOD THINGS GO WELL TOGETHER

Life is about love.

A man loves a woman, and a woman loves a man. The couple loves their not-yet-born child. Everyone loves flowers. And we all love martial arts.

Toasters are cool. And baths are great. But when you combine them, it’s not good. Same thing with this one.

PRE HEIMLICH MARTIAL ARTS MOVE TO DISLODGE FOOD IN THROAT?

The gentleman in a Kuk Sool Won dobok is suspending his student or child upside down by the ankles. The child is wearing a Kuk Sool Won tee.

While the child looks entirely amused, the father or teacher has a face that says, well, that says this is the biggest martial arts glamour photo, ever.
