A couple weeks back Nate Diaz posted a video on Instagram of him nailing UFC President Dana White with a ‘Stockton Slap’. The video was captioned simply ‘getting deals done today’ and the video was enjoyed by fans who speculated what exactly led to that moment. Today on a new podcast called Unfiltered, hosted by Jim Norton and Matt Serra, White joined the show and explained how the slap actually happened:

White explained how that whole thing came about as the inaugural guest on the UFC Unfiltered podcast.

“So what was happening is, we had just left and were heading back to the arena and we were on Crenshaw, and there was a place called the Turf Motel. It just came to me, I said pull the truck over, I want Nate to slap me. And Nate looked at me like, what the f—? You should have seen the look on his face when I said that. And then we pulled over and he started slapping away.”

About Dana White

While working as a manager for Tito Ortiz and Chuck Liddell, White learned that Semaphore Entertainment Group, the parent company of the UFC, was looking for a buyer for the UFC. White contacted childhood friend Lorenzo Fertitta, an executive at Station Casinos and a former commissioner of the Nevada State Athletic Commission. Within a month, in January 2001, Lorenzo and his older brother Frank bought the UFC with White installed as its president. White owns 9% of Zuffa, LLC, the entity the Fertitta brothers created to own and manage the UFC.

About Nate Diaz

TRAINING: A typical day starts with a good run. Afterwards I spar either boxing or kickboxing. Later I work jiu-jitsu and takedowns. I lift weights late at night and try to eat as healthy as possible.

When and why did you start training for fighting? I started training when I was younger just because I didn’t have much else to do, and that’s what my brother (Nick Diaz) did. I just went to the gym with him, he started fighting in the UFC, and I wanted to help him win fights so I did everything I could. I put on the gloves and sparred with him, and before I knew it I was getting a fight of my own.
