There is a sometimes used technique in business and politics, wherein you declare something to be true, and in so doing, it becomes a reality. If you are a movie producer, you declare that MGM is back your latest motion picture, get a bunch of press for it, and MGM backs your film.
That may be what UFC featherweight champion Conor McGregor is up to. He briefly tweeted that that he was retired. Then the UFC pulled him from UFC 200, and USADA said if he was retired, their procedures dictate he had to take a break of four months, as they had no authority to test retired fighters, and needed time to make sure that all was clean.
Then Conor did a long unretirement post on his social network.
But UFC president Dana White remained adamant. At the latest UFC 200 media conference, White left an empty chair for McGregor, said he missed required media duties, and was off the biggest card in the history of the sport.
Early this morning, McGregor tweeted that he is back on the card.
Happy to announce that I am BACK on UFC 200!

TMZ Sports caught up with UFC president Dana White, who emphatically reaffirmed that McGregor is out.
“It’s not true,” said White. “We haven’t talked to Conor or his manager since the press conference. I don’t know why he would tweet that.
“All the media keeps asking me that. I feel like the scene in ‘Step Brothers’ when they ask if they can build the bunk beds. I don’t know how many more times I can say the fight is off or how many more press conferences I can have saying the fight is off for people to believe it’s off.”
