UFC featherweight champion Conor McGregor accepted his World MMA Award by verbally attacking heavyweight champion Fabricio Werdum. McGregor wasn’t even there – he spoke to the crowd as a giant, disembodied head, peering out from the dark.

“You got the heavyweight champion, who’s a p****, pulling out with a sore toe,” said McGregor. “How is the heavyweight champion going to pull out with a sore toe? What kind of champion is that? The game is on its knees, so, I apologize I can’t be there at the awards, but I am out here putting it in, working, putting in the true work, the work it takes to keep every one of yous fed. So thank you, and thank me.”

The crowd then erupted with laughter and cheers.

Werdum responded too, but it wasn’t with a laugh or a cheer or thanks. What is was though, no one can say, exactly.

“Please Werdum :: Go slow :: easy you are a heavyweight !!! Wow !!! Now I love you more than #DanaWhite . now I know why #vaicavalo” he captioned this.

Sometimes things get lost between cultures. For example, Chael Sonnen did a landfill for a major metropolitan area worth of talk prior to his fights with then UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva.

“You tell Anderson Silva I’m coming over and I’m kicking down his backdoor and patting his little lady on the ass,” Sonnen said. “And I’m telling her to make me a steak, medium-rare just how I like it.”

Brazilians naturally took offense. Beavis on the right got it right – cagĂŁo means something like “Sir Poops A Lot.” And Butthead in the middle, he got it right. But the unfortunate on the left, he did it wrong.

The guy at bottom right just figured it out, too.

Maybe some can say to Werdum, a great champion, “Ummm, boss, that doesn’t mean what you think it means.”
