In a curious case of art imitating life, UFC women’s bantamweight champion Holly Holm and challenger Miesha Tate, who fight Saturday night in the co-main event of UFC 196, also co-star in the fight move ‘Fight Valley.’

At first glance, the movie poster looks like it could be a poster for UFC 196.

The plot of fight flics is long established – “You killed my master, now I must kill YOU.” But you don’t watch fight flics for the plot – that is just a coat hanger for the action.

And there is plenty of action with Holm and Tate, as well as Invicta FC featherweight champion Cris Cyborg, as seen in the latest trailer.

As a rule, women MMA fighters who fight each other get along better in person than do their male counterparts. Holm, Rousey, and Cyborg reportedly got along great on set, despite the fact that Tate expected to fight then champ Ronda Rousey, and the UFC unexpectedly pulled Tate and gave the title shot to Holm.

Holm of course beat Rousey in spectacular fashion. But now Tate has a shot at Holm’s title, and a lot of smart people think her wrestling style matches up far better for her vs. Holm than it does vs. the Judo Olympian Rousey.

That question will be answered Saturday night, live, at UFC 196.
