Ultimate Fighting Championship featherweight Pat Sabatini moved to 2-0 in the Octagon after submitting Jamall Emmers in the first round of their UFC Vegas 35 bout.

In little time, Sabatini has proven a serious problem on the mat for opponents during his career. However, early in his bout with Emmers, he was having problems of his own with his opponents striking. A punch thrown by “Prettyboy” seemed to stun the 30-year-old, and knocked him to the ground.

Once on the ground, Emmers was dominant in gaining full mount on a couple of occasions, but the skilled grappling of Sabatini showed as he defended and eventually scrambled to a position where he looked for a heel hook. While the Pennsylvania native worked for one submission, Emmers attempted a toehold of his own. However, the heel hook won out and forced the submission with 3:06 left in the round.

Emmers immediately grabbed his knee after the referee jumped in and seemed in excruciating pain from a technique long known for it tears knee ligaments.

The win is a second straight for the CFFC veteran Sabatini as he moved to 15-3 overall.

The defeat was the second in three Octagon appearances for LFA veteran Emmers, whose record falls to 18-5.
