Conor McGregor is in for a rough ride at UFC 196.

In order to promote his bout against Nate Diaz, the UFC has released the footage of Nate Diaz’s fight against Takanori Gomi that took place at UFC 135 on September, 2011 in Denver, Colorado.

The UFC announced on the 23rd of February that the current Lightweight champion Rafael dos Anjos broke his foot and was unable to fight Conor McGregor at UFC 196.

The next day, it was announced that perennial contender and fan favorite Nate Diaz had agreed to fight the Irishman in a Welterweight bout.

And that is the thing. Moving up a weight class is no easy feat at all. Moving up TWO weight classes is downright insane.

McGregor is known for his stellar striking and while he is no slouch on the ground, this facet of his game is not his strongest at all.

And that is where Nate Diaz excels.

Diaz, a black belt in Brazilian jiu-jitsu, has had seven submission victories inside the Octagon. He is a big threat on the ground for anyone. Besides, the fact that his bout against McGregor takes place at Welterweight could prove to be a huge advantage for him if the fight hits the ground.

Diaz’s striking has nothing to envy to his grappling though. While his footwork is nothing spectacular, his boxing skills are sharp enough to give anyone trouble, as demonstrated yet again in his last fight against Michael Johnson last December.

Nate Diaz is a beast on the ground and an elite striker on the feet. He has a granite chin and surreal cardio. He doesn’t quit. He is way more experienced than McGregor. That is why he is a very real threat to the Irishman.

You are aware of the way Conor McGregor fights. Nate Diaz? Probably not so much. Here is your chance to catch up, watch how Nate Diaz outclasses Japanese star Takanori Gomi both standing and on the ground!
