UFC Vegas 29 live results: Casey O’Neil earns a second-straight Octagon finish by putting Lara Procopio to sleep
From beginning to end, Casey O’Neill versus Lara Procopio was a battle with a seriously high pace, some phone booth striking, and strong grappling where neither woman was complacent off their back. The key difference was that “King” was much more up to the task of a high-paced scrap. In rounds two and three she just seemed to have another gear that her Brazilian counterpart lacked. She defended Procopio’s black belt grappling advances and showcased some slick grappling skills of her own.

The third round is where the Aussie really turned it up as she got a trip takedown, worked to back control, and then put Procopio to sleep with a rear-naked choke. She has now scored finishes in both her Octagon appearances after earning a technical knockout of Shana Dobson in February.
Ricky Glenn TKOs Joaquim Silva in 37 seconds
Ricky Glenn versus Joaquim Silva continued the early finishes at UFC Vegas 29. Just 30 seconds into the fight, “The Gladiator” landed a left hook that hurt and floored the Brazilian. “Netto BJJ” showed some toughness as he tried to fight through a ground-and-pound barrage and actually worked back to his feet, but Glenn landed another shot, that once again, gave Silva the jelly legs. After three years away from the Octagon, the Iowa native got back in the win column in emphatic fashion.
Josh Parisian earns split-decision win over Roque Martinez in a highly competitive battle
Roque Martinez entered his heavyweight clash with Josh Parisian in a must-win scenario after coming up short in his first two UFC appearances. He did not achieve his goal, but it surely wasn’t from a lack of trying. Both heavyweights showed impressive gas tanks considering their size and the pace of the bout.
This heavyweight battle ends with a SD win for 🇺🇸 @JoshParisian!

Throughout all three rounds, both men battled in close quarters against the cage and showed strong beards as they equally took serious blows from their opponents. In the end, despite Martinez being the more efficient striker statistically, two of the three judges gave the nod to the native of Michigan.
It was an important bounce-back win for the Dana White’s Contender Series alum after he fell in his UFC debut in November. For the native of Guam, he has now lost three straight and is winless in the Octagon. He will have a nervous week ahead wondering if he gets a third chance in the organization.

Despite being known for the chaos that his punching power can cause in the cage, versus Matthew Semelsberger the man known as Khaos Williams showcased various parts of skillset in his unanimous decision win at UFC Vegas 29. The Detroit native displayed smart strategy, clever defense, solid combinations, and even some clinch work. “Semi the Jedi” was game throughout the bout and made Williams work during all three rounds. However, he seemed to fight a bit cautious and didn’t really let his hands go enough. The reputation of his opponents power may have forced him to be more measured with his approach.
With the win, Williams, 27, bounces back from his first loss in the Octagon–a unanimous decision defeat to Michel Pereira in December. For Semelsberger, he loses for the first time in the UFC. Moving his record to 2-1 in the promotion.
Virna Jandiroba dominates and dislocates Kanako Murata’s arm in route to doctor stoppage victory
Unquestionable toughness from @m_r_t_k_n_k, who clearly wanted to continue with an injured arm 💪 #UFCVegas29 pic.twitter.com/mSUz2vFfN2

There will be two narratives that come out of the prelims bout between Virna Jandiroba and Kanako Murata. Jandiroba is a very talented fighter at strawweight, and Murata is as tough as her MMA hero Kazushi Sakuraba. Wherever the fight took place, the Brazilian dominated. On the feet, she showed an improved striking game as she touched up and swelled the right eye of Murata. When the native of Japan took it to the mat, “Carcara” proved to be dangerous off her back as well.

In the first round, Jandiroba threatened an armbar for over a minute, but the 27-year-old seemed to survive it. However, in the second she was clearly compromised as her left arm seemed useless and inactive throughout the round. Before the third started, the Octagon side doctor took a look at the limb and ended the fight then and there. The 33-year-old bounces back from her December loss to MacKenzie Dern with an impressive win to hold on to her ranking at 115 pounds.
In defeat, Murata showed a world of heart in showing no quit when over matched, and competing with one working arm for an entire round.

“Korean Zombie” competes in the UFC Vegas 29 main event, but we got to see a “Romanian Zombie” in the brawl between Aleksa Camur versus Nicolae Negumereanu. Throughout the three-round fight, Camur showed off skilled boxing and some really good footwork. And he needed it because Negumereanu walked him down for 15 minutes, despite being blasted with some thudding blows from the American.

However, despite his chin being one of the most memorable facets of the fight, “Nick” still landed shots of his own as he chased down his foe. That endless show of fortitude paid off for Negumereanu, as two of the three judges appreciated the effort and gave him the split-decision victory.
The 26-year-old gets back in the win column after losing his promotional debut in March of 2019, while the DWCS alum in Camur has lost two straight after winning his UFC debut in January 2020.

Marlon Vera takes control in the second and third round to beat Davey Grant by unanimous decision
Marlon Vera versus Davey Grant was a rematch five years in the making. And their UFC Vegas 29 fight ended much like the original. In a unanimous decision, but this time “Chito” got his hand raised.

In the opening round, Grant seemed to have a slight speed advantage as he threw big strikes with a lot of power behind them. He moved and made Vera chase, and looked to have won the first five minutes as Vera got off to a slow start. But the next 10 minutes were a different story as the Ecuadorian found his range and aggression, and started to land on his opponent with consistency. The damage taken slowed “Dangerous” down, and by the final frame, it was all Vera. As he dominated the Englishman with grappling for the majority of the round.

The judges awarded the 28-year-old the unanimous decision win, as he gets back in the win column after a disappointing loss to Jose Aldo in December. He has alternated wins and losses in his last four. the loss ends a three-fight win streak for Grant.
Sergey Spivak scores biggest win yet with unanimous decision over Aleksei Oleinik
The UFC Vegas 29 co-main event between Aleksei Oleinik and. Sergey Spivak was much like any other fight for the Russian submission ace. He bombed away with winging strikes to try and set up the clinch, and get the fight to the mat where he is an MMA legend. Unfortunately for “The Boa Constrictor,” Spivak was capable of staying out of submission danger for the full three rounds.

— UFC (@ufc) June 20, 2021
Oleinik was able to score pivotal takedowns in the first and second round, however, before the third started fatigue had clearly set in. The last frame was by far the best of the fight for “The Polar Bear.” Yet he did enough in fighting off takedowns and landing strikes on the feet in the first 10 minutes that he was able to earn the unanimous decision victory over his fifteenth-ranked opponent.
Spivak has now won three straight inside the Octagon, and is likely to have a number next to his name next week. On the flipside, the 43 year-old Oleinik has last three in a row and is sure to be jettisoned from the UFC heavyweight rankings in favor of his opponent. He has been victorious in
