Winning a UFC championship is usually a long, arduous road with a lot of bumps and set backs along the way. There are even some high level UFC fighters who have been in the game for a long time yet never got that coveted title shot.
For some however, earning a title shot as well as the championship itself came quickly like we see in the following video.
Joanna Champion is one of fighters seen in this video who quickly won a championship. In her case the women’s straw weight was a new division and she beat a really tough opponent in Claudia Gadelha her first fight so it does make sense. She’s certainly proved herself to be a legitimate champion since, destroying all challengers in oftentimes brutal fashion.

Another women’s fighter, Holly Holm, is seen in this video who famously knocked out Ronda Rousey for the belt in epic fashion. Holm had a couple fights in the UFC prior but didn’t look like a world beater in them. She was most likely given the title shot because Rousey literally cleared out the entire division and Holm presented some interesting stylistic challenges for her, which proved to be very true.
The best example seen in this video is probably Brock Lesnar though. Lesnar only had two fights in the UFC prior to his title shot and he lost one of them. Brock was a huge star though and was most likely given the title shot for that very reason. He shocked the world when he defeated legend Randy Couture for the belt at UFC 91. He proved himself a legitimate champion in his two following defenses, tying the record for most defenses in UFC heavyweight championship history.

Former Pride fighters Anderson Silva and Rampage Jackson were also given title shots quickly. Both had just one fight in the UFC prior to their title shots. However, both were proven to be high level fighters in Japan. They also made very quick work of their first UFC opponents, Anderson KOing Chris Leben brutally in the first round, and Rampage doing the same to Marvin Eastman at UFC 67.
